For the contest, students in grades 7-12 enrolled in public, private, and parochial schools in Massachusetts submitted paintings, film, apparel, photography, jewelry, mixed media, prints, and sculptures. Judges voted on Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention awards from 5,274 individual entries by students from 343 schools. Judges also voted on Gold and Silver Key winners from 405 art and photo portfolios submitted by graduating seniors. The winners received their awards February 8 at the John Hancock Hall with a speech from Boston Mayor Thomas Menino.  The Gold Key winners will compete for the National Awards in New York in May.
