G & P student to represent CPS in state music festival!

Congratulations to Lauren Stubbs, a Graham and Parks 8th grader, who won a chair in the Junior District Mixed Chorus. In January the best students from 30 Eastern Massachusetts districts prepared an assigned piece and auditioned to see if they could win a spot in the festival band, orchestra, mixed chorus, treble chorus or jazz band. It is quite an honor and it takes a lot of preparation to win a seat. The competition is tough, but it’s very rewarding to rehearse and perform at the festival with so many superb musicians! The festival will take place on Friday and Saturday March 6 & 7, 2009 at Lincoln-Sudbury High School with the final concert happening on the Saturday afternoon. Lauren worked very hard and we will be very proud to have her represent Cambridge Public Schools at the festival! All are invited to attend the concert.
